Brian Emrich

Film:
Brian has been delving into the sound design world with several creditable films to date. Darren Aronofsky's "PI", a psychological thriller that won the "Best Director" Award at the 1998 Sundance Film Festival was his first venture. From there his style was at full force in Darren's last film "Requiem for a Dream", which roped in Oscar and Golden Globe nominations along with an MPSE Award nomination and Online Film & Television Association nomination for Brian himself. He has worked with director Joel Schumacher on his successful thriller "Phone Booth", and Mark Romanek's highly respected psychological thriller "One Hour Photo" with Robin Williams. His most current work can be heard in the recent release of Lions Gate Films "Wonderland" starring Val Kilmer. Other noted projects are the DVD release of "The Matrix Revisited" documentary along with various independent film shorts.

Brian has also been expanding his talents into the advertising world with several high profile television commercials for Nike and Adidas.

Music:
Psilonaut is his current moniker for music composition. The most recent project is an original track for the new documentary "Moog" directed by Hans Fjellestad, which was composed entirely on original vintage moog synths. The accompanying soundtrack is due out this fall on Hollywood Records. Other projects include a remixed version of "Ghosts" from the "Requiem for a Dream-Remixed" CD and "Third From The Sun", an original track, featured on the successful movie soundtrack "PI", both available on Thrive Records. As Psilonaut he has also created several pieces of music for MTV's website incorporating Thomas Dolby's well-received Beatnik software. Under the moniker of "Furnace" he has created a reworking of Pink Floyd's "Hey You" which appears on the Cleopatra Records release, 'A Saucerful of Pink: A Tribute To Pink Floyd'. These aural trips are all conceived and recorded at Trinitite, his analogue synth-infested studio.

Other Projects:
Brian has also done extensive touring and collaborating with several other musicians. Since 1994, he played bass with Foetus AKA Jim Thirlwell, the godfather of industrial music. He has recorded two albums with Foetus; 'Boil', a live album, and 'York (First Exit To Brooklyn)', a live improvisational symphony performance featuring Lydia Lunch, recorded under the Brooklyn Bridge at The Anchorage. He also collaborated with Thirlwell on his latest Steroid Maximus release.

Other past projects have included touring and recording in Congo Norvell. Along side Kid Congo Powers, former member of The Cramps, The Gun Club, Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds; and Jim Sclavunos, current member of The Bad Seeds, they released their 3rd full-length album, 'Abnormals Anonymous'. Brian has also recorded/toured in Jim Sclavunos' solo project, "The Vanity Set", and recorded/toured with the now infamous NYC ska band 'The Toasters'. In 1991, he collaborated with splatter punk best selling authors John Skipp and Craig Spector on a soundtrack for their novel, The Bridge. In 1997, he composed several tracks for a feature length film of J.G. Ballard's "The Atrocity Exhibition".
