About This Site
What is this all about
Oddbox started out as a music site in 1997. We spotlighted undergound acts and unsigned artists and also had a place for fashion and other forms of art. Not to mention our betalab which was full of experiments in new technologies and just plain fun stuff.
Now it's 5+ years later and my music contacts and the environment for music online has changed drastically. At the same time I have begun painting. As I have always enjoyed art and find myself stuck in a cubicle to pay for my daily bread the idea of cubicle art just kind of came naturally.
So the new Oddbox was born to support and help promote Cubicle Art.
How this site was built
The original Oddbox site was build like any other site at the time. I used html hacks for presentation. To hell with structure! This is a common technique that is still the norm on the web. The idea was to always build for the worst browser. Support all browser bugs as if they were features. What a mess.
The New Oddbox is not built in this way. I have built a site that is hopefully, future proof using XHTML and CSS. This site will not look the same in older browsers but will still function in older browsers without any javascript browser detects. It will or should also work in other devices as well. PDA, handheld devices, screen readers, etc.
NOTE: NO TABLES WERE USED IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF THIS SITE!
With that said I would like to thank Mr. Zeldman for his sites and his book, Designing with Web Standards. Everyone who works on the web MUST read this book!
